Erdem Kılıç

Erdem Kılıç was graduated from Dentistry Faculty, Hacettepe University in 2000  and afterwards he started residency program in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cumhuriyet University and got his PhD degree. He became a specialist and was appointed as a consultant to the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry at Erciyes University in 2005. In 2010, he worked as a visiting doctor for 4 months at Maxillofacial Department of St. George’s Hospital, University of London. He became an associate professor in 2012. He started to work as an academic staff in Maxillofacial Department of Dentistry Faculty, Bezmialem Vakif University and he has more than 50 articles related to his own scientific field published in the international and national scientific journals.

Complications of Wisdom Teeth Surgery: Preventions and Management

Wisdom teeth surgery is one of the most frequently performed surgery in oral and maxillofacial surgery field. However this surgical procedure requires adequate knowledge and planning processes. In literature, several complications are encountered about the operation such as; excessive bleeding during surgery or after surgery, nerve damage, emphysema, infection, jaw fractures, displacement of roots or entire teeth into anatomical spaces etc. Recommendations on preventions during the surgery, planning processes for avoiding the complications and knowledge about the treatments when complications occur is emphasized in the presentation. Furthermore, many images of different cases who were treated in our clinic or encountered with several complications based on our clinical experiences will be shown in this presentation.
