Problem Based Approach to TMD Patients  in Dental Practice

Prevelance of temporomandibular disorder is quite high among the population. These disorders are treated in a multidisciplinary approach by a team that involves a dentist, a surgeon, a physical therapist and a psychiatrist. The dentist’s role in rehabilitation of this disorder is especially preparation of interocclusal devices and elimination of occlusal disorders by occlusal adjustments that can be done at enamel level. In this seminar, how the dentists should approach their patients, who have temporomandibular disorders, in their clinical practice will be explained. In addition, splint types, splint applications and the key points that should be considered during application will be described.
